Weekdays and Weekends
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are weekdays.
We go to school five days a week.
We’ve got Maths, English, Sport, Reading, Art and Music at school.
Our timetable is OK.
I like English and Reading very much.
Saturdays and Sundays are weekends.
We don’t go to school.
We’ve got time for our hobbies.
A hobby is what you like to do.
My hobbies are playing computer games and drawing.

9. The longest river is the Shannon, in Ireland.

3. Kolomyia is not very big but we can call it ‘a city’.
4. In the center of the city there is a large square with shops and cafés.
5. The main building Ratusha is also here.
6. Not far from Ratusha there is another famous building - the Museum of Pysanka.
7. There are many beautiful and ancient buildings in Kolomyia.
8. There are a lot of trees and flowerbeds along the streets.
9. The traffic in the city is not heavy.
10. My school and my house are in a modern part of Kolomyia.
11. The school is not far from my house.

Today’s weather is chilly and foggy.

I’m glad that it’s over now.

At night the temperature drops below zero.
That’s why our town lake is frozen.

Many Ukrainian families celebrate Christmas with a twelve-course dinner.
There are beautiful decorations in the shops and in the streets.
Ми святкуємо багато свят в Україні.
Найвідоміші: Різдво, Новий рік, Великдень, День незалежності.
Свято - це час для гостей, вечірок та подарунків.
Мої улюблені свята - Різдво та Новий рік.
Багато українців прикрашають новорічні ялинки скляними кульками та вогниками.
Люди купують подарунки та дарують їх своїм друзям та родичам.
На Різдво ми співаємо Різдвяні пісні та бажаємо один одному благословіння.

2. More than 7 million people live there.
3. London is famous for its historical monuments, museums, theatres and shops.
4. The UK is a monarchy, the Queen lives in Buckingham Palace.
5. The Tower of London is the most famous tower in the world.
6. It used to be a palace and a prison.
7. Now it’s a museum.
8. St Paul’s Cathedral is the biggest church in London.
9. But the most famous is Westminster Abbey where kings and queens are crowned, married and buried.
10. The British Museum is famous for its collection of works of art from Egypt, Greece and ancient Rome.

2. Більш ніж 7 мільйонів людей живе там.

I took a basket, chose the products and paid at the cashier.
I should say that the goods in this supermarket are cheaper.
I like going shopping and try to do it every day.

Вчора коли я хотів купити молоко і сир я пішов до нашого супермаркету.
Я взяв корзину, вибрав продукти і заплатив на касі.
Слід сказати що товари в цьому супермаркеті дешевші.
Мені подобається ходити по магазинах і я намагаюся робити це кожен день.

My favourite season is summer and my favourite month is June.
The climate in my town is mild but sometimes it’s very hot in summer.
January is usually cold, there is some snow and it’s frosty, but sometimes it’s not very cold.
There may be some winds in January too.
January is not a very pleasant month in our town.
People must have warm coats and hats, and boots.

Ecology of Ukraine
1. Ukraine is suffering many ecological problems.
2. Many of them have been caused by economic activities.
3. There are many consequences of damaging the environment.
4. One of them is water pollution.
5. The Dnipro and other rivers are in danger.
6. They are filled with poison: industrial waste, all kinds of chemical elements and pesticides.
7. Industrial enterprises of large cities waste harmful substances into river and sea’s waters.
8. The emissions destroy fishing industry and lead to a damage of wildlife.
9. As you see our country has many ecological problems.
10. If our generation don’t do our best to solve these ecological problems we will have a global ecological catastrophe.

Weekends
Usually my family spend a lot of time together on the weekends.
On Saturday morning we clean our flat.
We dust the furniture, wash the floor, vacuum the carpets.
Mum does the shopping and cooks dinner.
On Sundays we visit our relatives and friends or invite them to our place.
We have dinner together and tell each other the latest news.
In the evening I like to read books or surf the Internet.
In summer we usually spend our days off in the country.
